As I have also mentioned on the sonic vibration technology overview page, there was another sonic machine which was almost out of the world in terms of quality - it was so good that it felt hard to believe. That was called the Evolution. Anyway, they are no longer in business. And today, Turbo Sonic is the undisputed king of vibrations (all vibrations put together, not just sonic vibration).

Sonic is by far the best vibration machine that one can buy today! Mind that it is expensive, but for an obvious reason - no technology/brand stand anywhere close.

True to any sonic vibration machine, the Turbo Sonic uses a bass speaker technology to vibrate the human body using sound vibrations. They do not use a traditional motor driven platform for creating the vibrations. The resulting vibration is well-aligned with the natural vibration of the human body, and hence the human body accepts sonic vibration really well and responds well to this type of vibration.

Just above (as well as on the home page of this site - in case you noticed), you can seen the video in which my partner opens up a Sonic Life (Turbo Sonic) machine to take a brief look at the elements. There is something addictive about Turbo Sonic machines - you would be on it and enjoy the exercises, but never get enough of it. Every time I see a Turbo Sonic machine, I feel tempted to have yet another session. These machines are special!

On the flip side, the original old Turbo Sonic machines are hideously expensive. Well, not any more. Till a couple of years back, the most inexpensive machine they had was $10,000, and the better ones were $16,000. Fortunately, they have succeeded. They now have sonic machines that start at $3,995, and then there is another model at $5,995. These models use the same sonic technology as in the long-standing Turbo Sonic machines, and have similar benefits with weight restrictions. For example, you need to be 250 lbs or lesser to use the $3,995 machine. And you can guess it - the stocks of the $3,995 machines run out very fast. The $5,995 machines also sell out pretty quickly. These machines give incredible experience.

In case of Turbo Sonic machines, you would essentially be standing on a speaker and the sound waves will pass through your body to create the vibration. There is a speaker and jack built into it, and that will allow you to hook up your ipod, phone and music system with your machine and let those vibrations run through your body! Does it sound creepy? Sonic Life: The newer models of Turbo Sonic

So now, let me get into some of my observations on the new models of Sonic Life. While the Turbo Sonic X7 and X5 models have been around for long, the Sonix Professional, Pulsation and Personal models are the recent releases of sonic in the whole body vibration machine market. Being new, there are a number of features on these models that were absent in the older sonic models. Frequency generators and music speakers playing music are some. Unlike Theravibe and Avant Wellness machines, Turbo Sonic have really become advanced over time. With the new Sonic Life, the sonic experience has become much more affordable than ever before. They have been able to control the prices really well and that has helped the sonic technology penetrate the market better than ever before.

Another really interesting point about the recent Turbo Sonic models has been their body weight. While for normal motorized machines one would prefer to have heavy weights, this is completely the reverse. The body weights of the newer TurboSonic models are among the lightest of the WBV machines. And yet, rather than being a problem, this is a welcome feature. Because, these sonic machines are really stable and quiet. And you could try standing on the edge if you find one in a club (or buy one). It won't budge an inch. It will stand as firm as a fortress.

I think the Sonic Life (Sonix) Personal model is a bit underrated as far as weight carrying capacity is concerned. At 265 lbs, if you weight 220 lbs and want to take 40 lbs of dumb bells, it would start bottoming out as far as the weight carrying capacity is concerned. With the Pulsation, it jumps up by another 20 lbs. So if you are too heavy or are on the heavier side and want to do exercises with dumbbells, be cautious about the weight capacity. Usually 265 lbs (Sonic Life Personal) and 286 lbs (Sonic Life Professional) are enough. Also these machines can carry what they promise, without slowing of performance. If you need something higher and have sufficient money, go for the Professional - it can carry 550 lbs.

However, just like the other Turbo Sonic machines, both the new Pulsation and Personal models use motors having qualities similar to what I have seen on other machines belonging to the $16,000-$19,000 price range. And usually, the weight carrying capacity is sufficient for most people. So for most cases, Sonix Personal and Pulsation are awesome deals, and more so given the drop of prices from the old Turbo Sonic brand. In addition, these machines are easy to use under high humidity conditions (such as many of the locations close to the sea). Usually a lot of the vibration machines, including the older sonic machines would gather rust in the high humidity conditions, and would have the risk to get short-circuits. These newer ones have wonderful protection. So while high humidity is bad for stereo and sound systems, the Turbo Sonic models do a wonderful job in not getting negatively affected by humidity. Hence in seaside locations, as well as around spas and other places that could become humid, using the newer Turbo Sonic machines is a great idea. And by the way, you can plug the machine into your TV, and watch your favorite programs directly, while taking your vibration exercises.

TurboSonic Vibration Frequency Control and Reading

The next point to look at is the vibration frequency. Being built on the sonic technology, Turbo Sonic can achieve what no motorized machine can achieve. While other motorized machines will be able to produce a low-range vibration of 5 Hz, Turbo Sonic can go down as low as 3 Hz. This is extremely low-frequency vibration. Don't get me wrong - at the highest end, it can still go up a mammoth 50 Hz. The two extremes are so widely diverse that users of these sonic machines can gain practically all sorts of vibration benefits.

Two really cool features of the Pulsation and upwards, that are missing in almost all other machines, are:

1. One-step frequency control: In almost all other machines, the control of vibration is at a step level. That's true for Turbo Sonic Personal also. However, Turbo Sonic Pulsation and upper models make it really cool, by letting the user specify the vibration at a step of 1 Hz. So, in other words, with other machines, you would say "5Hz", "10Hz" etc. as your needs. But with Turbo Sonic, you can literally go from 3 Hz, to 4Hz, to 5Hz, to 6 Hz, and so on, all the way up to the upper limit (usually 50 Hz) of the vibration frequency range, at steps of 1 Hz. That's an unmatched level of control. When I had first heard that they are going to introduce it in their newer models, I almost thought they were not serious as it sounded almost unrealistic that one could achieve to be so fine with their control - but of course, they were not. Users of TurboSonic that I have interacted with are amazed by this level of fine-grained control. This much control could be achieved only because they use the sonic technology.

2. True vibration reading: Unlike most other vibration machines that would show some function of the vibration frequency on the display, all the TurboSonic models will show the true vibration frequency (Hz), on its display panel. Thus, with the Turbo Sonic machine, you will be left with no room to guess what vibration frequency your body is receiving. Instead, you directly get to see the actual vibration frequency on the display panel.

At the low end of the spectrum, at 3-5 Hz, health maintenance benefits will be at peak. The lymph drainage quality on a Turbo Sonic machine will be second to no other machine, because of the low frequency vibration it can attain. Further, health benefits such as blood circulation regulation and detoxification will be great in the low-range frequency zone. It will feel like a wonderful massage, and will be really comfortable on painful back and joints.

As one increases the frequency, the intensity of the exercise goes up. The high-range vibration frequencies will increase the amount of muscle and bone development impact on the body. Scientific Research References for Turbo Sonic


Turbo Sonic is a machine that makes its mark fast on the health. Using this machine for 10 minutes every day for a week will usually start making a great positive difference to one's health. In fact, if you read the abstract of the second paper I cited there (the paper which was jointly researched by Willamette University, University of Michigan and Oregon State University), it clearly tells (in simple English) how a 4-week (1-month) test with a Turbo Sonic machine was scientifically proved to make a significant difference to the body. Below, in italics, is what the abstract says.

Long-term functional changes after whole-body vibration (WBV) training have been attributed to adaptations in the neuromuscular system. The present study examined the effect of four weeks of WBV training on muscle function outcome variables [rate of force development (RFD), electromechanical delay (EMD)], and spinal control mechanisms (pre-synaptic inhibition). Forty young individuals with no history of lower leg injuries were randomly assigned to an experimental or control group. The experimental group received WBV training (three bouts of two minutes, three times a week) for four weeks. During each of the training sessions, the subjects stood on the vibration platform with the knees slightly flexed. The control group performed periods of standing in the same position as the experimental subjects. After four weeks of WBV training, the experimental (WBV) group demonstrated a significant improvement in electromechanical delay (EMD). The results also showed a significant group × test interaction for RFD and intrinsic pre-synaptic inhibition (IPI) over the course of the study. Enhanced neuromuscular activation (EMD and RFD) and increased spinal reflex gain followed by 4 weeks of WBV training indicate that WBV training might be used not only for athletes engaged in sports that require explosive type of muscular activation, but also for the elderly individual who need to exert a rapid rise in muscle force in injury related situations.
